SPECIALTY:  Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and one of the first in the country to earn a subspecialty certificate in orthopedic sports medicine (CAQ), Dr. Mintzer is fellowship- trained, specializing in outpatient advanced arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder.  Dr. Mintzer serves on the Executive Committee and is a Partner of Jewett Orthopaedic Clinic.

 

EDUCATION:  Dr. Mintzer received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University in Molecular Biology and received the First Honor Prize for highest class standing.  He attended Harvard Medical School and completed the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program in Boston.  His advanced sports training fellowship was done at New England Medical Center.  Dr. Mintzer has also earned a Masters in Business Administration from Florida State University.

 

PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS & AFFILIATIONS: Head Team Physician for the Orlando Magic, Head Team Physician for Rollins College, Orthopaedic consultant for the PGA/LPGA, former Head  Team Physician for the Orlando Predators, the Orlando Solar Bears and the Orlando Seals Hockey clubs as well as several local high schools, Associate Professor of Orthopaedics for the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics for Florida State University College of Medicine, active member of the NBA Team Physicians Society, Florida Orthopaedic Society, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

 

PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS:  Named “Top Doctor for Orthopaedic Sports Medicine” nationally for multiple years by Castle Connolly and appeared in the New York Times for the honor.

 

GREATEST PERSONAL ACHEIVEMENTS:  Balancing a busy sports filled orthopedic practice and raising two high-achieving and successful children, (Samantha ,Wake Forest 2017 and Brandon, Princeton 2020) with Debbie, my wife of 25 years.

 

WHAT SETS HIM APART: I understand that everyone wants to be the healthiest that they can be to achieve their own highest level of performance and success.  My goal is to get each person I treat into the best position to achieve their own personal goals.

 

CHARITABLE WORK: Dr. Mintzer is the President of the Jewett Orthopaedic Foundation which supports local home grown charities in Orlando.
